The Trade and Business Licensing (TBL) Board made a CI$1,000 donation to the Savannah / Newlands Community Development Action Committee (Sav-New CODAC) in support of the committee’s annual senior citizens’ Christmas party.
‘We feel that the elderly in our community deserve to have a Merry Christmas’, said the board’s Deputy Chairman Lynn Bodden.
Board Secretary Renee Rankin added that members donate to a charitable cause every year because they believe it’s important to give back to the community – not only through their appointed responsibility as members, but also from a personal perspective. ‘They too are a part of the Cayman community for which they care deeply’, she said.
Sav-New CODAC hosts several other events throughout the year. In addition to the seniors’ party, they support the youth and assist in beautification projects. The committee is made up of 18 members and is chaired by Heather Bodden.
‘The annual senior citizens’ Christmas party is the highlight of the year. So many of our elderly look forward to this event, as we present them with lovely gift baskets, provide lots of entertainment, and make sure they have a proper meal for Christmas. The kind donation from the TBL Board is much appreciated," said Ms Bodden.
Sav-New CODAC has organised the party for the past 22 years.
